Sales Manager (EE)

As the Sales Manager, you will take ownership of the retail product portfolio’s sales performance, leading the development and execution of sales strategies to achieve ambitious growth objectives. You’ll collaborate with internal teams and external partners to expand market share, maximize profitability, and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders. This role demands a strong understanding of the retail landscape, exceptional leadership abilities, and a commitment to delivering outstanding results.

Budget: R70 000 (CTC includes medical aid & provident fund)

Location: Century City

Working Environment: Hybrid 3 days a week in office

Main Responsibilities:

1. Sales Strategy & Execution

  • Develop and implement national sales strategies to achieve and exceed company targets.
  • Identify growth opportunities to expand market share and profitability.
  • Set, track, and analyze sales targets, adjusting strategies to optimize performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with business objectives.
2. Team Leadership & Development
  • Lead, mentor, and manage the sales support administrator to drive team success.
  • Foster a high-performance culture with a strong focus on accountability and excellence.
  • Provide training to enhance sales skills and product knowledge.
  • Oversee recruitment, performance reviews, and succession planning for key roles.
3. Partner & Relationship Management
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key retail partners and stakeholders.
  • Negotiate contracts and terms to ensure mutually beneficial agreements.
  • Develop detailed customer plans and set clear expectations with sales agents.
  • Collaborate with the supply chain team to ensure product availability and high customer service standards.
4. Financial & Performance Management
  • Prepare and manage sales budgets and forecasts in line with company objectives.
  • Monitor and report on sales performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Ensure cost control within budget parameters while maximizing ROI.
5. Market Research & Competitive Analysis
  • Stay informed about market trends, customer preferences, and competitor activities.
  • Conduct regular competitive analysis to identify opportunities and mitigate risks.
  • Use insights to refine sales strategies and maintain a competitive edge.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of sales management experience in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector, preferably in South Africa.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Sales, Marketing, or a related field (preferred).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strategic thinker with proven problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills.
  • Data-driven mindset with the ability to analyze complex information effectively.
  • In-depth understanding of consumer goods categories and retail operations.
  • Familiarity with market trends, customer behavior, and competitor strategies.
  • Experience in managing budgets and conducting financial analysis to support business objectives.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
