PR Coordinator (Contract)

We are seeking a detail-oriented, proactive PR Coordinator to support our Public Relations team in executing e@ective communication strategies. This role involves assisting with logistics, managing administrative tasks, writing and editing press materials, and ensuring timely follow-ups. The ideal candidate will be highly organised, have strong written and verbal communication skills, and be passionate about helping to shape our brand's public presence.

About this position

Budget: R15 000 - R19 000 per month

Contract Duration: 3-months (ASAP - 28 February 2025)

Working Type: Hybrid (2 - 3 days in office)

Location: Stellenbosch, Cape Town

Responsibilities:

Logistics and event coordination

  • Assist with the planning and coordination of PR events, press conferences, media interviews, and brand activations. 
  • Handle logistics such as venue bookings, coordinating with vendors,  arranging travel for speakers and media representatives, and managing  guest lists.
  • Ensure all necessary materials are prepared and available for events,  including press kits, brand collateral, and multimedia elements. 

Administrative support

  • Maintain and update media lists, press databases, and contact  directories. 
  • Schedule meetings, calls, and follow-ups with internal and external  stakeholders. 
  • Track and manage PR budgets, expenses, and invoices, ensuring all PR  activities stay within budget. 

Media relations and follow-ups

  • Assist in managing relationships with media contacts, influencers, and  PR agencies. 
  • Conduct follow-ups with journalists, editors, and media outlets to secure  and confirm coverage.
  • Monitor media coverage and compile press clippings, reports, and  summaries. 

Content development

  • Write, edit, and proofread press releases, media advisories, and other  public-facing documents in alignment with the brand’s voice and PR  strategy. 
  • Collaborate with the communications team to develop content for  newsletters, website updates, and social media posts as needed. 
  • Assist with research to support the development of key messages, media  pitches, and story angles. 

Reporting and analysis

  • Track, measure, and report on the success of PR initiatives, providing  insights and recommendations for future improvements. 
  • Compile and organize data on media outreach, coverage, and  
  • engagement.

Requirements:

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Journalism,  or a related field. 
  • 1-2 years of experience in PR, communications, or a similar role (internship  experience included). 
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills. 
  • Strong organisational and multitasking abilities with keen attention to detail. 
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects  simultaneously. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • A proactive attitude, strong interpersonal skills, and a willingness to learn.
