Conceptual Copywriter (Contract)

We are seeking a talented and creative conceptual copywriter to join our clients team. You will be responsible for developing innovative below-the-line advertising concepts and writes compelling copy across various marketing materials, ensuring brand consistency and driving audience engagement.

About this position

Budget: R24,000 - R28,000 pm

Location: Remote, ZA

Contract Length: 6 months (with potential to go perm after the contract)

Contract Type: Full-time Contract

Responsibilities:

1. Concept Development: 

  • Develop innovative and engaging concepts for below-the-line (BTL) advertising campaigns, including direct mail, brochures, in-store displays, point of sale, and experiential marketing. 
  • Collaborate with the creative team to brainstorm and generate fresh ideas that align with the brand's strategy and objectives. 

2. Copywriting: 

  • Write compelling and persuasive copy for various BTL materials that captivate the target audience and drive engagement. 
  • Ensure all copy adheres to the brand voice and style guidelines, maintaining consistency across all materials. 
  • Develop engaging and persuasive copy for all projects, including but not limited to campaign POS elements, campaign entry mechanics, trade presenters, emailers, social media content, video scripts, and audio scripts. Ensure all copy aligns with brand guidelines and effectively communicates key messages to the target audience. 

3. Research and Strategy: 

  • Conduct thorough research to understand the target audience, market trends, and competitive landscape. 
  • Develop strategic insights to inform and guide the creative process, ensuring relevance and effectiveness of the advertising campaigns. 

4. Collaboration and Communication: 

  • Work closely with art directors, designers, account managers, and other team members to produce cohesive and impactful advertising materials. 
  • Communicate ideas clearly and effectively, presenting concepts and copy to clients and internal stakeholders. 

5. Editing and Proofreading: 

  • Edit and proofread all copy to ensure it is free of errors, clear, and effective in conveying the intended message. 
  • Ensure all BTL materials meet high standards of quality and accuracy. 

6. Client Interaction: 

  • Engage with clients to understand their needs, objectives, and feedback, ensuring their requirements are met and expectations are exceeded. 
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients through effective communication and delivering outstanding creative work.

7. Project Management: 

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met and projects stay within budget. 
  • Prioritise tasks and coordinate with team members to ensure timely delivery of all advertising materials. 

8. Performance Analysis: 

  • Monitor and analyse the performance of BTL campaigns, using metrics and feedback to refine and improve future work. 
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to continually enhance the effectiveness of copy and concepts. 

9. Internal: 

  • Independently develop high-quality content based on internal briefs, including, but not limited to, company credentials, internal newsletters, social media posts, award entries, case studies, and marketing material.  
  • Ensure all content aligns with the company's voice and standards, effectively communicates key messages, and supports internal communication and marketing objectives.  
  • Collaborate with internal teams to gather necessary information and feedback and maintain consistency across all internal channels. 

10. Brand Adherence: 

  • Ensure all creative work aligns with the client's brand identity and marketing goals.
  • Maintain consistency in messaging across all BTL channels to strengthen brand recognition and loyalty. 

11. Creative Innovation: 

  • Stay ahead of industry trends and continuously seek new and creative ways to engage the target audience. 
  • Experiment with new formats, technologies, and approaches to keep the advertising fresh and impactful. 

12. Personal Skills/Attributes: 

  • The ideal candidate is a team player who is motivated, enthusiastic, communicative, alert, and exceptionally accurate. 
  • Interest or experience in retail marketing and in sports, fashion, liquor, and tobacco  brands is beneficial.  
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint is required.  
  • Additionally, the ability to nurture and mentor junior writers is essential.
