UX/UI Designer

Budget: R60,000 - R65,000

Location: Bedfordview, Johannesburg

Work Environment: Hybrid

Key Responsibilities:

Design Leadership:

• Take ownership of end-to-end design processes, ensuring alignment with business goals and user needs.
• Advocate for user-centered design principles across teams and stakeholders.
• Report on releases and their impact, while designing strategies for iterative improvements and continuous enhancement.

Research & Strategy:

• Plan and conduct user research, competitive analysis, and usability testing pre- and post-deployment.
• Report on findings from testing and feedback to refine and improve the overall user experience.
• Use data-driven insights and business goals to define design strategies and user experiences.
• Identify opportunities for innovation and improvements in user experiences by leveraging key data insights and research.
• Create a user experience backlog for continuous improvements and/or new feature development.

High-Quality Design Execution:

• Create detailed wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs for web and mobile platforms.
• Ensure designs are visually compelling, functional, and aligned with brand identity.
• Collaborate with developers to ensure seamless implementation of designs.

Collaboration:

• Lead design workshops and presentations to articulate design decisions and gather feedback.
• Act as the bridge between design, and development.

Design Systems:

• Develop, maintain, and enhance the company’s design system and component libraries.
• Ensure all design work is well-documented which includes user testing and developer briefing documents. 
• Drive consistency in design across all touchpoints.

Innovation & Trends:

• Stay up to date on industry trends, tools, and best practices.
• Propose and implement innovative solutions to complex design challenges.

Skills & Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in UX/UI design, with a portfolio showcasing complex and impactful projects across web and mobile applications.
• Mastery of design tools like Figma, or similar.
• Strong knowledge of user research methods, usability testing, and analytics.
• Understanding of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) to collaborate effectively with developers.
• Strong communication and storytelling skills to present design concepts and rationale to diverse audiences.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver high-quality results within deadlines.
• Strategic and innovative thinking with a user-first approach
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Collaborative, proactive, and adaptable in a dynamic work environment.
